Although pets are my focus, I occasionally take a break from the fur to photograph children and families. I especially enjoy photographing children for the same reasons I enjoy photographing dogs…they’re free of self-doubt, unrestrained, and full of energy.

That’s why I was so excited when my cousin-in-law’s mother asked me to photograph her with her six grandchildren on Thanksgiving morning. The three kids on the right are my first cousin’s kids who I get to see often now that I’ve moved back to New Jersey. I adore these kids and it was great to meet their cousins. The ages of the kids in this family are 5, 4, 3, 2 (twins), and 1!

We also managed to get a great photo of the whole family and Grandma chose to use this photo for her holiday cards.

I’m so happy I get to watch all of these kids grow…but can they please slow down and remain tiny in footsie pajamas for a little while longer? Pretty please?
